### Are A3 Refrigerants Coming to Residential HVAC?

Wednesday, October 14 | 12:00 - 1:00 PM ET

An ACCA Codes and Coffee Webinar

---

The HVAC industry is still adapting to A2L refrigerants, but another refrigerant transition may already be taking shape. A3 refrigerants such as R-290 (propane) are attracting increased attention for residential applications because of their very low global warming potential—but their higher flammability presents very different equipment, installation, servicing, and code considerations.

Washington State is considering accelerated provisions for residential A3 applications for next January, but another refrigerant transition is already taking shape with New York State phasing out A2L HVAC equipment between 2027 and 2034. In addition, all eyes will be on the 2030 ICC and IAPMO code change cycle, which gets underway next year. What could these developments mean for contractors, manufacturers, distributors, and the future of residential HVAC?

Join ACCA for an important Codes & Coffee discussion on how these applications differ from today’s A2L equipment, the codes and standards needed to support them, lessons from international experience, and whether the U.S. HVAC industry is ready for broader adoption. Our panel will include the following:

- Jennifer Butsch, Copeland
- Jim VerShaw, Residential HVAC, Trane Technologies
- Zac Johnson, HARDI
- Sean Robertson, ACCA

Grab your coffee and join us as we look beyond the current refrigerant transition—and examine what may be coming next to help shape ACCA’s position.
